THE LS/FF SHORTIES X NORTHCORE 2023 OPEN

Northcore are proud title sponsors of the 12th annual London Surf/Film Shorties short film competition. This prestigious event celebrates British and Irish filmmaking talent within surf culture, offering a £500 film fund to the winning entry.

The Competition

The Shorties accepts diverse creative approaches — documentaries, edit reels, animation, and hybrid styles all qualify equally. As the organisers say, "it's about the way you choose to shoot them, or not. After all there's more than one way to tell a surf story." The only requirement: films must not exceed 5 minutes.

A Decade of Surf Film

Launched in 2011, the Shorties has evolved into one of surfing's most respected filmmaking competitions globally. The organisers seek "projects that bring a fresh perspective to our culture, whether that's through exceptional storytelling, surfing, cinematography or creativity."

"LS/FF is a joyous celebration of surf culture and a showcase for talent, both in front of the camera and behind it. It's a fantastic space for new and established filmmakers to express themselves in shorter form."
